Today we traveled all of 208 miles and have stopped for the night at a pullout overlooking the Pacific Ocean in southwest Oregon. The view is phenomenal with the ocean and rocks. Yes, it is cloudy and not very warm. Probably in the low 50's.

We were glad to cross out of California and in to Oregon. So far, we are liking the Oregon Coast much better than the California coast. Could be because California has far too many rules, like:

'share the road with bicycles' - On a very narrow, very winding, 30mph road. Don't think so!

'2 hour limit on parking' - On turnouts off the highway.

'No beach access' - What's the point if you can't walk to the beach?

Oh, Oh, Oh!!! And 'it is illegal to for a man to urinate in the woods'. He may be a sexual predator...give me a break. Men have been peeing on trees in the woods since the beginning of time, and believe me, that is the ONLY thing on their mind.

Anyway, up the Oregon coast we go!

We drove the 23 miles to Shelter Cove, hoping to see some sea lions. It was an interesting drive through redwoods, then snow, until the road wound us back down to the ocean's edge. Shelter Cove is a small community with lots of houses of all sizes, but not much in the way of businesses. I think we saw one espresso place, a small grocery store, and that's it. Lots of property for sale which I wouldn't rush out and buy. Of course, California, earthquakes, tsunami...sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

One the way back to the motorhome we stopped in Del Rio for lunch at the 101 Cafe. Awesome cheeseburger! Then we hit the hail storm, brrr.

in 1964. The water was approx. 22' deep.

On our way back, we rounded a corner in the middle of

the forest and saw this cemetery. ...then we noticed there

were three deer hanging out, so snapped the picture.

Avenue Of The Giants is a 32 mile scenic drive through the Redwood Forest in California. Weather has been rainy today, but it didn't change the beauty of the redwoods at all.

Tomorrow we're going to check out Shelter Cove, then heading closer to the coast.

Last year he said we weren't in a recession, and that our 'economy is fundamentally sound'.

We're listening, Ben! But, we're not believing the lies that seem to roll off your tongue. You keep spinning it, I'm sure there are plenty out there who will buy it.....for now.

Buckskin Mountain Jeep Run

Yesterday, we rode to the Desert Bar aka Nellie's Saloon. Instead of taking the jeep run, we took the easy route, via a gravel road about 5 miles from the highway. It's still an awesome place in the middle of nowhere. Until you get there, that is. Then, the music from the live band fills the air and people are everywhere....standing in line for a burger or hotdog, or standing in line for a drink. If you're lucky, you'll find a table to enjoy your drink and the music. Otherwise, you'll continue up the hill to yet another level of tables and a group of people playing horseshoes.

The place is open on the weekends only from high noon till dark, so get there early, because it fills up quickly. They've got 48 or more large solar panels generating power to the place, the bathrooms are made of thick rusty iron plates and the burgers can only be ordered one way....well done. No cheese, no special requests. You get it the way they serve it. But it's cheap, $3.00 for a burger, $3.00 for a beer.

The guys went on a jeep run today called Cattail Cove. We did this run last year and had a blast. The picture above is of Rove needle. You can actually crawl through the eye. Anyway, they took both jeeps, were gone about 3 hours and had a great time. Lake Havasu area has some fantastic jeep trails, just wish we had more time to explore them all.

A narrow shelf road and some pretty steep inclines were part of yesterday's jeep run. The guys spent the day jeeping, while we girls went in to Mexico and ran some errands.

Deere Run B&B is a pretty cool setup that someone put together. Complete with concrete pad, firewood, briquettes, water, newspaper (to start a fire) and lawn chairs. Oh, and most important, an American flag flying proudly. Ya never know what you may found when you wander in to the desert....including the old mine shaft they checked out. You can see BlackJack in some of the pictures..he went with the guys.

In the evening, we had a campfire and watched yet again the moon being a spectacular sight.

This is a great picture!

We left Yuma today with friends of ours. First stop, about 80 miles up the road in Quartzsite. A little desert dry camping for a few days. I love Quartzsite for a couple reasons. It is relaxing. It is quiet. Sunsets are gorgeous. AND we can have a campfire!

We met up with more friends that are spending the winter here, and had dinner with them at their trailer (and a campfire). Tonight, it's lights out at 10:00.

What could possibly be next! Do you remember as a child riding your (or your friend's) dirtbike? Fun times, right? Not anymore. Not for your kids, or your grandkids.

Some damn 'safety' group has decided it is not safe for children ages 12 and under to ride a dirtbike. As a matter of fact, it is illegal. What will be next? I can see the headline now, "Balls of all sizes have been declared not safe for children under the age of 10.....and will be considered criminal....." You get the idea. What insane absurdity!!

Socialism Coming To A Town Near You

Where to begin....It is almost impossible to keep up with all the 'bailouts' and 'stimulus' packages. To be honest, the 'Obama-tactics' make my head spin.

Regardless of whomever you choose to blame for the economic mess our country is in, you cannot ignore the facts.

Obama is spending our country in to a very dark hole....hold on to your seat though, you ain't seen nothin' yet!

Just to state a few facts:

Unemployment rate hits 25 year high at 8.1% - 651,000 jobs lost in February
Stock market has lost more than 50% in the past 12 months. 20% of that loss has occurred since Obama took office.
Here's a small sampling of what the latest spending package contains:

• $200,000 - tattoo removal in Los Angeles
• $400,000 - to train teachers on bullying
• $1.8 MILLION - to study effect of swine odor on the environment.....WHAT??!!

No earmarks? Whatever, Obama.

Then there is the 'housing stimulus/recovery/spending bill'. He (BO) says he will help 'up to 9 million homeowners keep their house.' I call Bull****!!

In order to qualify for the program, you must provide tax returns, 2 pay stubs, affidavit of financial hardship...blah, blah, blah. Most of those that need help dont even HAVE a job...makes it tough to provide paystubs, doesn't it?

How about GM? We bail them out, we bail them out, they lay off more than 47,000 workers, now they'll probably have to file bankruptcy. Yeah, should of let them go belly up months ago.

Banks. Same story. We bailed them out. They're still dying....of course, they're hoarding the billions we've given them. I say 'we', because it is after all, OUR tax dollars.

AIG. Again, same song and dance. We bailed them out, and again, and three times. Looks like they may go bye-bye, too.

They were all 'too big to fail', remember? Are they not too big to fail now?

Like I said, it all makes my head spin. By the time Obama has worked his 'black magic', we will have nationalized health care, nationalized banks, and there will be no middle class average joe. Hmmm.....oh, YEAH, it's called Socialism.

Remember what Thomas Jefferson said: "A Government that is big enough to give you everything, is big enough to take it all away."

As this blog was mentioned earlier this evening while sitting around with friends having a cocktail, I got to thinking......I need to get off my a** and start posting something. We obviously are doing something, right?

There obviously is LOTS going on with our economy and our new President....holy cow. Where to ever begin with that I have no clue.

Could it be the spend, spend, spend, or his apparent love of the camera (himself standing in front of it) that I detest? I'm going with both.

Yo Mama Obama is sending and spending our country right down a huge black hole. The stock market has lost 50% of its value in the past 12 months. I know, I know, all the Bush haters will tell you it's all HIS fault. Guess what, guys? Bush sounded the alarm about our economy/Fannie & Freddie as far back as April, 2001. Even Alan Greenspan warned about the dire consequences, in 2003. Their warnings went unheard and/or ignored by Congress and the Media.

And....here we are, 2009. 1 in 5 houses are in foreclosure. Tomorrow, expect the jobless numbers to be the highest ever. GM is running out of money...again. (shock!) AIG just got another bailout. Everyone's getting bailed out, yet none of it is making a difference.

Plan by design?????? Yeah, I'm goin' with that one. Obama is bankrupting our country....it is called Socialism. And if you can't see it, God help you.
