After arriving in Bellingham, we took the jeep and drove back to Mt. Vernon in hopes of seeing the tulip fields. The Tulip Festival runs through the end of April so we thought it was perfect timing. Unfortunately, just 4 days earlier they did whatever it is they do to tulips when they are done blooming, and there were no fields of red, yellow or pink to be seen anywhere.But, local residents had some gorgeous flower gardens, so we stopped and snapped a few pictures.
