After another exasperating trip to walmart yesterday, I've decided it's time to get serious about saving some money on our food bill. The price of food and non essential items are out of control.
We had a short list of items we wanted to pick up, mainly non food items. One item on our list were disposable razors. We always use Daisy brand and usually purchase a package of 10. The price has been creeping up but usually hovers around $8.00 - I was shocked yesterday to see the price had skyrocketed to $9.97! Can you say 'almost 20% increase'?
Another shocker was the price of toothpaste. Arm and Hammer toothpaste has typically run $3.84 for a standard size tube. Yesterday.....wait.....$4.25!! That is roughly a 10% increase!
I've got to find these items for less money somewhere or start clipping coupons.
I Googled 'daisy razors' for example - and shopzilla popped up a list of stores that sell the razor and their current price. Cool!! walgreens had the best price so I clicked.
And guess what?? A package of 12 for only $8.99! I paid .99 cents per razor, Walgreens has them for just .74 cents. - You can order them online through Walgreens with free shipping, too.
Now, I am not planning on driving from store to store just to save a few pennies, however, if the savings were large enough, I would. There are many online coupon sites you can visit and print the coupons from the convenience of your home. More on that later.
